Liverpool Monitoring Marcos Llorente as Premier League Rivals Join Transfer Chase

Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation of Atlético Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente as interest in the experienced Spaniard grows among Premier League clubs.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among the clubs assessing a possible move for Llorente, with Chelsea and Manchester City also said to be interested.

Llorente’s current contract with Atlético Madrid is due to expire in the summer of 2027, meaning his future has attracted attention from clubs outside Spain. Atlético are reportedly already discussing a new contract with the 31-year-old and remain confident that an agreement can be reached.

Liverpool keeping an eye on situation

Liverpool’s interest comes after Llorente has continued to demonstrate his versatility for Atlético Madrid. The Spaniard is capable of playing in midfield and at right-back, giving him the ability to operate in different positions.

His recent performances against Liverpool have also put him in the spotlight. Llorente scored Atlético’s opening goal in their Champions League meeting with Liverpool at Anfield earlier this month, although the Reds eventually came back to win 2-1.

The 31-year-old has also previously made headlines at Anfield after scoring twice during Atlético Madrid’s famous Champions League victory over Liverpool in 2020.

Atlético want to keep Llorente

Despite the reported interest from England, Atlético Madrid are working to keep the midfielder at the club.

Liverpool’s own media-watch report says Atlético are already in talks with Llorente over fresh terms and that there is confidence within the Spanish club that a new agreement can be reached.

For now, there is no indication that Liverpool have made a formal offer for the player. The situation remains one to watch as the transfer window approaches.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring developments, while Atlético will hope to resolve Llorente’s future with a new contract.

What do you think? Should Liverpool consider a move for Marcos Llorente?
